ARAT Conference attendees 2023
As a collaborative community, we have a variety of activites aimed to facilitate connections and learning, and implement creative and innovative solutions within the anti-trafficking and modern slavery movements.
Read about our primary initiatives below:
Monthly Learning
Calls
Monthly learning calls are virtual meetings where members can learn from invited speakers and/or each other. Meetings are held in both Eastern and Western time zones with Thai, Indonesian and Spanish translation available.
Call topics have included: Strategic Planning, Brain Function and Stress Reduction, Familial Structures in Trafficking
Support to Community Initiated Projects
As members get to know each other and learn together, there is often interest in collaborating on shared projects according to their expertise and topics they’re passionate about. The GLC helps facilitate these collaborations and raise awareness for these projects.
Resource Sharing & Development
We collect, create, and disseminate resources that may be useful for the community. These include Call Briefs, GLC Toolkits, Community Initiated Projects, and Member-Shared Materials. See our public resource library below or join us to participate in other community collaborations.
Regional Conference
Planning
The GLC is responsible for planning the Asia Region Anti-Trafficking (ARAT) Conference annually to develop multi-sectr learning and partnerships, and improve responses in Asia. We hope to expand our events in the future in line with the needs and capacity of the community.
Network & Coalition Leaders Community
The GLC provides a community of learning and support for leaders of diverse anti-trafficking networks and coalitions. Quarterly support calls are held, which are also open to any GLC members interested in learning about networks or coalitions.
We currently have over 16 Network and Coalition Members from Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Europe!
Coffee Corner
Calls
Coffee Corner Calls are informal community-led calls on any topic in any language. They could be focused on presenting research, workshops, brainstorming, etc.
Some examples of call topics include: Understanding & Addressing Moral Injury, Strategies for Reducing Indebtedness in At-Risk Communities and Burnout and Sustainable Self-Care.
In addition to everything above, our members gain access to a secure Members Area Account, where they can access:
Recordings and outputs of previous Monthly Learning Calls and other calls
A Calendar of upcoming calls and events
The GLC People Library: a database that facilitates connections between members based on their area of work and expertise
