Who We Are

GLC Member Analysis January 2023

+ What is the purpose of the GLC?

Vision To strengthen and foster a comprehensive, connected, and competent anti-trafficking & modern slavery movement

Mission As a culturally diverse, global community, we collaboratively strengthen standards, facilitate connections and learning, and implement creative & innovative solutions within the anti-trafficking & modern slavery movement.

+ Who is the GLC for?

The GLC wants to facilitate knowledge sharing amongst members of the anti-trafficking movement. As a community, we strive towards inclusivity and support an interdisciplinary anti-trafficking response. Since modern slavery and human trafficking intersect with many other global issues such as health, poverty, environmental degradation, as well as broader human rights and labour abuses, we aim to collaborate with these sector responders.

+ What does the GLC do?

The GLC brings together members of the anti-trafficking movement in a range of different formats:

Monthly Learning Calls give members the opportunity to learn from invited speakers/each other. The calls are recorded and serve as a resource to members on our Resource Hub.

Network and Coalition Leader Calls The Network and Coalition Leader calls are held quarterly as space for leaders to bring questions, challenges and ideas for collaborative advocacy for the broader movement.

Community Initiatives are member led initiatives, often in collaboration with other members, that bring together experiences and skill sets on thematic areas for buillding the movement.

Coffee Corner Calls are a space for informal conversations, networking and learning - also known as our Power Hours!

+ How often does the GLC meet?

At least once a month members have the chance to engage in GLC activities through the monthly learning calls. Usually, there are more GLC activities in progress, such as monthly coffee corner calls, network and coalition leader calls and other community initiatives.

+ What can I do as a GLC member?

GLC members are given the opportunity and a safe space to learn from the experience of the community. GLC members are able to connect with other members who have specific skills and experiences. GLC members can share their knowledge with other members and participate in Community Initiatives.

The secretariat term is for 3 years with an option to extend a further 3 years, depending on the feedback of the community. The secretariat position is currently held by Chab Dai, who may relinquish the post in 2023 to another organisation that will take over this responsibility.

+ Can I be asked to leave the GLC?

The GLC represents a safe space for a diverse community. For this community to function effectively it is crucial that all members align themselves with the GLC core values. If this is not the case, membership will be reviewed and discussed in dialogue with the members/organisation in question.

+ How is the GLC funded?
